    The Historic Center of Mérida, the second largest in Mexico, is the cultural heart of the city and was declared a National Heritage Site in 1982. It is notable for its colonial architecture, tree-lined squares, the Cathedral of San Ildefonso (1561)—the first in Latin America—the Government Palace, and the vibrant Paseo de Montejo.

    Mérida, Yucatán, has important Mayan archaeological sites, notably Dzibilchaltún (famous for the Temple of the Seven Dolls) just 10 minutes away. Within the city there are eco-archaeological parks with structures in situ, such as Chen Jó and El Cerrito, as well as ruins in the Xoclán area.

    Dzibilchaltún: The closest site, known for the Temple of the Seven Dolls, the Xlacah cenote, and its astronomical observation cenote.

    Chen Jó: Located east of the city, it has a pyramidal base and platforms, ideal for recreation and learning about the Maya.
